Company Background
Lexi Capital was founded in 2010 by entrepreneurs who saw how retirees suffered at the hands of fluctuating markets, unscrupulous bankers who are seemingly immune from the law, and politicians solely focused on profit.
They saw the need for everyone to have access to market insights and assets with recession-proof qualities. All this culminated in the creation of Lexi Capital and the Gold Assurance Plan.
Lexi Capital Services
Lexi Capital offers self-directed IRAs and focuses on investing in silver and gold.
Additionally, the company provides personalized portfolio analysis along with a complimentary 6-month assurance plant, which should protect its investors from market fluctuations in the short term.
The plan ideally covers up to $500 per ounce of gold.
Lexi Capital Fees
There are several costs associated with Lexi Capital IRAs. For instance, if your account is $50,000 or less, you will be charged $285 for the first year and $180 for every subsequent year. Accounts over $50,000 have their annual fees waived.
The minimum investment requirement is $3,500, and there’s a $14.95 handling and shipping fee for any order under $15,000. You may get a 3% discount on your order by choosing wire payment, cash, cashier’s check, or trade for your order.
Investing in Gold and Silver with Lexi Capital
The only precious metals you can invest in through Lexi capital are gold and silver. In general, the demand for these precious metals is higher for both domestic and international markets compared to other precious metals.
The main focus of the company is to provide its clients with the highest, most reliable returns. Their specialty is gold IRA rollovers along with establishing Gold and Silver IRAs.
You can also place other investments in your Lexi capital account, including:
IRA Custodians
STRATA Trust is the IRA custodian for Lexi Capital. This is a well-respected and reliable custodian for gold IRAs. When consulting with the company, you can discuss your choice of custodians.
The company also offers a great variety of coins including semi-numismatics, numismatics, as well as special editions. The company solely focuses on the differences in collecting and investing. For the novices, this is extremely important.
Lexi Capital’s official website also provides news feeds for investments including gold, silver, palladium, and platinum. While basic, the website is well designed and there are no unnecessary distractions. They also offer bonuses for opening an IRA or converting it into a precious metal IRA.
Lexi Capital's Gold Assurance Plan
Both gold and silver are great options for diversifying retirement savings. However, there are still fluctuations in the price of precious metals. This is why the company offers its client the Gold Assurance Plan.
This is a unique plant that provides IRA accounts with a buffer from unexpected global situations and market fluctuations. The plan is designed to provide investors with price protection for six months.
Each ounce of gold and silver coins gets maximum protection of $500. An extra fee will be required to include bullion products. If you have any concerns or questions, you can readily talk to an experienced advisor.
The specifics of gold and silver investments are explained in length to help you choose the right assets for your retirement.
What is a Precious Metals IRA?
If you’d prefer to hold physical gold in an IRA, it can’t be your regular account. You have to create a separate gold IRA account.
This is also known as a precious metal IRA, and it works pretty much as a standard individual retirement account; with the same distribution rules and contribution limits.
However, rather than holding paper assets like bonds and stocks, the gold IRA account is meant to hold physical bullion – bars or coins of gold and other approved precious metals including platinum, silver, and Palladium.
Gold IRAs can also contain gold-related stocks (think gold mining companies), gold ETFs that track gold-related indices, or even gold-related mutual funds that specifically invest in gold stocks or bullion (or both).
What is a SDIRA (Self-Directed IRA)?
This account provides you with more control over your retirement money than conventional retirement accounts offer. Financial institutions and employers will often provide choices like bonds, stocks, and mutual funds for investing in your IRA.
With a self-directed IRA, you have a lot more control, as it gives you the option of investing in assets like businesses, real estate, and precious metals like silver and gold.
Doing this means that you’re investing in assets that are less likely to be affected by economic turmoil.
Precious Metals Storage Options
For customers who purchase precious metals as a personal investment, Lexi capital can have your purchase delivered directly to your home. If you want to open a gold IRA, you might be unable to store your precious metals at home because of IRS regulations.
Lexi Capital offers two main storage providers: Brinks, and the Delaware Depository. Numerous companies recommend storing precious metals in Delaware as the business and tax laws are more favorable to investors.
Based on the type of investment, you could choose to store your precious metals at home or in a secure storage facility. If you want your precious metals delivered to your home, the shipping fee is $14.95 for orders worth $15,000 or lower.
If you choose to store your precious metals at home, you will be breaking IRS guidelines and your IRA may be considered invalid.
IRA Services Inc. is the real custodian for Lexi Capital. If you want, you could choose the storage facility you’re comfortable with. Lexi Capital offers a list of options, and we recommend that you use one of these as they are among the most respected in the industry.
Opening a Self-Directed IRA on Lexi Capital
You can choose to transfer from an existing retirement account or create a new self-directed IRA. If you prefer keeping your traditional retirement account or just want to open a new one, the process is quite simple.
But if you want to get more control over your current assets, they make the transfer process easy.
Collect the required documents:
To open a new silver or gold IRA account, you need to gather personal information such as your social security number. To make a transfer, you have to collect your recent account statements from your retirement account as well.
Portfolio analysis:
Get in touch with Lexi Capital and their representative will help you understand how silver and gold can be used to hedge against the instability of the financial markets. They’ll also explain how countless Americans have been enjoying annual returns of about 18% for over a decade.
Pros
Cons
Why Work with Lexi Capital?
While many investment providers will let you add silver and gold to your retirement portfolio, most of them will end their services there. But this isn’t the case with Lexi Capital.
The company seems to understand that investing blindly in precious metals is as bad as investing in other assets with unsure futures.
For this reason, they have reduced their offerings to only gold and silver assets that can consistently generate strong results and maintain high demand on both the local and international markets.
Lexi Capital's Website
The website is generally smart and easy to read. While it only offers basic information, it does provide a helpful FAQ section that includes essential information like cancellation and sign-up processes.
There’s also a live chat feature that lets you contact a support agent, giving it a leg up on its competition like American Hartford Gold, which doesn’t have online live chat support.
However, you may need to phone them to get the details of their pricing and products as they can vary with time.
Common Questions
When Lexi Capital issues a confirmation number, the price is locked in, whether you’re buying or selling to them. They are not exactly intending to enter into selling or buying transactions, accepting the risks involved only for them to end up canceled.
Nonetheless, they do recognize that in some rare situations, orders need to be canceled. All cancellations are subject to their market loss policy in addition to a $45 cancellation fee.
Cancellations can only be approved over the phone, or you will be given a cancellation number. During this time, if there has been any market loss to the company, it will be calculated and added to the cancellation fee.
Lexi Capital measures all its bars in troy ounces, with the average 10-ounce bar weighing about 0.3 kilograms. Or 311.3 grams to be precise.
The company claims that it triple checks the weight of every bar they pour, and when they find an underweight bar, it rets re-melted. In case a bar is found to be a bit overweight, they let it pass.
Lexi Capital is not required to submit or report its sales to the IRS, or even any other state, federal, or local agencies. This is unless a client falls under Form 8300. Any person receiving over$10,000 in cash in a single transaction or a series of related transactions must file a Form 8300.
Lexi Capital ships all their orders Insured/Registered with the U.S. Mail and Federal Express. Every package is insured and will require a signature once delivered.
The registration number of a parcel we’ll only be available to trace the package if it’s yet to be received within 30 days from the date of shipment. Tracking numbers are generally not provided to customers owing to insurance restrictions.
Conclusion
Lexi Capital is focused on educating its clients on how they can get more control over their retirement funds. On their website, you will find all the information you need to set up your gold IRA and even get prompt answers to the questions or concerns you might have.
While the competition generally has a broader selection of precious metal offerings, Lexi Capital chooses to specialize in silver and gold to ensure higher returns in the long run.
Lexi Capital is an ok gold dealer, but we do not recommend them.
They are not the best option if you are looking to make cash purchases and certainly not if you are looking to protect your savings with a precious metals IRA, like other companies we have written about.

I started BMOGAM Viewpoints as a way to compile all my views on investing in one place. I own my home, have some real estate, and own a few stocks like most people, but what really drives my interest in investing is I have a strong love of precious metals, especially gold.
